Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) is an MMORPG (Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) that is very popular among players. But lately, many players report that they encounter FFXIV 90002 error with the error message “server connection has been lost”.

It’s really frustrating, but it’s not a new problem in the game Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV). In one of my recent blogs, I wrote about the 2002 error in Final Fantasy Xiv, and now another annoying error code, 90002, has appeared.

Like other FFXIV errors, this one also disconnects players from the server. Error 90002 is often encountered by players playing FFXIV on Windows PCs.

There are several fixes for FFXIV error 90002, but first, let’s learn the causes of error code 90002 with the message that you are disconnected from the server.

What causes error 90002 in Final Fantasy XIV

Common IP / TCP mismatch: One of the most common causes of this problem is a problem with your current assigned IP address or a transmission control protocol mismatch. If this scenario applies, you can solve the problem by rebooting or resetting your router.

Large Send Offload is Enabled: It turns out that this network adapter setting, which is designed to prevent large packets from being split into smaller packets with individual headers by a high-level protocol such as TCP, can affect the stability of Final Fantasy XVI. If this is the case, you can solve this problem by going into the network card settings and disabling the bulk upload feature.

Damaged game files: it is also possible that this error code is caused by a corrupted or bad packet being sent. This can cause the game server to shut down if it decides to reject the packet. In this case, you can solve this problem by reinstalling the game and all related components.

Disable Avast Firewall: If you are using Avast Firewall or Avast AV as a third-party security package, you may see this error due to a conflict between the security package and the Square Enix mega-server. In this case, you can solve the problem by disabling the real-time protection or removing the third-party tool completely.

Inconsistent DNS: If your computer is currently using an automatically assigned DNS, its scope may contribute to some incompatibilities with the FFXIV mega server. In this case, you may be able to resolve this issue by switching to DNS provided by Google.

The router does not support UPnP: If you are using an older router model that does not support UPnP, you may need to change the Final Fantasy IV master configuration file to ignore this technology when connecting to the game mega server.

Turn off Large Send Offload

Large Send Offload is an option in your network adapter settings. It can prevent higher-level protocols (such as TCP) from breaking up large packets into a number of smaller packets with separate headers, which is usually useful for optimizing network performance. However, games such as FFXIV can experience dropped connections when this option is enabled.

Therefore, to eliminate FFXIV error 90002, you can try disabling the Large Send Offload option (if this option is available). Detailed steps are given below.

  1. Press Win + R to bring up the Run window.
  2. Then type ncpa.cpl in the box and click OK to open the network connection.
  3. Right-click on the network you are currently using and select Properties.
  4. In the window that opens, on the Network tab, click the Configure button.
  5. Switch to the Advanced tab.
  6. Under Properties, click Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4) and select Disabled.
  7. Then follow the same procedure for Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6).
  8. Click OK to save your changes.
  9. After the process is complete, restart the computer and check to see if FFXIV is running smoothly.

Reinstall FFXIV

If all the fixes in FFXIV 90002 haven’t solved the problem, you can try reinstalling the game.

  1. To do this, simply go to Control Panel, View by: Category in the upper right corner, and select Uninstall Program.
  2. Then right-click on FFXIV and select Uninstall.
  3. After uninstalling the game, following the instructions on the screen, you can download it and install it again to play.
