Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are two web browsers developed by Microsoft. Although it should be mentioned that there are still better browsers than Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge, some Windows users still prefer not to upgrade and use the good old ones. Mostly business organizations, since the latter two are available for easy integration with Active Directory, which implements Group Policy for users. But when it comes to our time and new browsers with lots of advanced features and services, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge are certainly not great competitors. But it does have its merits.
Microsoft Edge came a little later and began its service in 2015 exclusively for Windows 10 and Xbox One. It was then developed and rolled out to Android and iOS in 2017 and macOS in 2019. Internet Explorer, on the other hand, began its existence with the advent of Windows. Because its service covered almost all platforms, it was the default Web browser for Windows until Microsoft Edge took over the latest Windows 10. That said, these later web browsers sometimes returned an error. DLG_FLAGS_SEC_CERT_DATE_INVALID when users tried to visit a website. This error message affects the security of the domain website you are trying to access. There are several fixes to counteract this. Check the time and date settings
- Press the Windows key + the S key combination.
- Enter “date” in the “Enter here” search box.
- Then click Date and Time to open the settings window, as shown below.
- Then select the “Set time automatically” option if it is not already selected.
- If the time and date don’t seem right even though “Set Time Automatically” is enabled, try synchronizing the clock with a time server.
- Click the Add clock for different time zones option.
- Then select the “Internet Time” tab below.
- Click the “Change Settings” button to open the window in the screenshot just below.
- Select the “Synchronize with Internet Time Server” option. Then select the server from the drop-down menu.
- Click the “Update Now” button.
Reset your browser
- Click “Personalize and manage Google Chrome” to open the menu for that browser.
- Select “Settings” to open the tab in the screenshot below.
- Scroll down and click the “Advanced” button.
- Then click the “Reset Settings to Original Defaults” button.
- Click the “Reset Settings” button to confirm further.
Reset Internet Explorer 11
If you often get the error message “Problem with this website’s security certificate”, this is often due to malware infection, as in Julia’s case. To reset Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
Launch Internet Explorer 11, then click the gear icon in the top right corner of the page and select the “Explorer Properties” option.
A new window will appear. Select the “Advanced” tab in the upper right corner of the window.
In the lower right corner of the window is a “Reset” button. Click it to reset Internet Explorer.
A new window titled “Reset Internet Explorer Settings” will appear. Check the “Delete personal settings” box and click the “Reset” button.
Internet Explorer will start the reset process. When you’re done, you’ll need to restart your computer. If so, add this page to the bookmarks in your browser (press Ctrl + D) and return to this page after restarting your computer.

Try using a different web browser
If Edge is having the problem, try using other browsers, such as Chrome or Firefox. Sometimes the problem may be with the default web browser. Causes may be due to plug-ins or extensions you have installed, incorrect browser settings, incorrect proxy server settings, or outdated browsers.
